| Ride Days and Motard Days |
Experiencing the thrill of circulating on a racetrack is a must for any motorcyclist. It is the only way you will push new limits in terms of your riding skills and your machinery in a controlled environment and without breaking the law. Are Track Days for Me?YES! Circuit Breakers track days cater for riders of all skills and bikes of all types. While the typical track day enthusiast is mounted on a modern day road registered sportsbike, at each meeting you will see riders on cruisers, sports tourers, Harleys and the occasional super-motard or dirt bike. Given that most modern day bikes can break the highway speed limit in second gear there is no legal way to truly test the speed and cornering limits of your bike on public roads. Added to that the other characteristics of public roads including poor and uneven surface quality, limited or no run off areas and the dreaded oncoming traffic, the benefits of using a professional racing circuit to properly enjoy your bike become obvious. How do I book in and what do I need to bring? To book your track day please contact Circuit Breakers on 49963120 ,0412 348916 or simply on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it In short you will need at least the following for any track day:
The first thing you need is protective clothing. At a minimum you will need:
Although not a requirement, we strongly suggest that you also wear a back protector. Any bike that you ride must pass our scrutineering process. The bike need not be road registered but must be in a condition that will not cause any possible danger to other ride day participants (eg the bike doesnt leak oil; tyres have sufficient tread; no bits and pieces ready to fall off). During the week before your track day we suggest that you check your gear and bike to ensure it is in a fit and proper condition for the track day. Theres nothing worse than showing up and not being able to ride because you forgot to bring an essential item of protective clothing or theres something wrong with your bike. Make sure your tyres are in good condition and your bike is fuelled-up. Oil your chain before you come out. Adjust your tyre pressures at the track. A good starting point is 31 psi front and 30 psi rear for race spec Road tyres. We can tape up or remove your mirrors once you get to the track. New track day participants often ride to and from a track day. We have no problem with you doing this however you should be aware that track days, especially for new participants, are both physically and mentally exhausting. You will see many of the regulars bringing their bikes to the track in trailers or vans for this reason. The other advantage of driving to the track with bike in tow is you can bring some necessities such as:
If you do ride to the track we recommend you do so with a friend. We want to see you come and go in one piece and be back for more! Whats the format of a typical track day?Circuit Breakers track days are usually held at Wakefield Park or Oran Park GP. You should arrive at the track about 7.30am. The first thing you should do is register your attendance with the Circuit Breakers officials who will give you an armband and sticker for you and your bike confirming you have paid for the day and are eligible to ride. You will then need to take your bike to the scrutineering garage where your bike, helmet and riding gear will be scrutineered. When registering you will have nominated the group in which you wish to ride. Circuit Breakers runs the following groups:
If you feel that the group you are in is either too fast or too slow for you during the day you can speak to one of the Circuit Breakers Marshals who will re-sticker your bike to an appropriate group. A riders briefing will take place, usually about 8.30am, at which time the rules of the track will be explained to you. These include briefings on the track saftey procedures , flags and rules for overtaking. Track time will then start at 9.30am with A Group going out first, then B, novice etc. Each session will be 15-20 minutes long. On a typical day each group should get 6-8 sessions in. If you have booked in for a half day you will either do 4 morning sessions or 4 afternoon sessions. If you have booked in for a full day you can do all 8 sessions, but please remember that you dont have to do each session. If youre feeling tired its wise to sit out a session and then get back into it after a proper break during which you should have fully re-hydrated and relaxed.
